APC Presidential Primaries Peaceful, Transparent in Lagos — Hamzat

The Lagos State Deputy Governor and APC Governorship Candidate, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has described the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primaries at the ward level as peaceful, transparent, and orderly, noting that the exercise was conducted in line with the widely accepted Option A4 voting system.

Dr. Hamzat made this known after participating in the exercise Ward A4, held at Ansar-ud-Deen Primary School, in Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State.

Speaking with journalists after the voting process, the Deputy Governor commended party members for their early arrival and orderly conduct, stressing that the entire exercise was carried out without disruption.

“The process has been very peaceful and orderly. It has been very nice. As you can see, people came out very early, accreditation was conducted promptly, voting took place peacefully, votes were counted, and we are all heading home satisfied,” he said.

Explaining the voting procedure, Dr. Hamzat stated that the primary followed the same transparent model adopted during previous party primaries, including House of Assembly, Senate, House of Representatives, and Governorship, commonly referred to as the Option A4 system.

“It is what we all refer to in Nigeria as the Option A4 system, where members queue openly behind the poster or banner of their preferred candidate. In this case, we had two candidates — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and another aspirant. At this ward, all votes were cast in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while the other aspirant recorded no vote,” he stated.

Dr. Hamzat noted that the exercise witnessed impressive participation by party members, reflecting strong enthusiasm and commitment to the democratic process within the party. He added that voting and counting were conducted smoothly and transparently, while results from the wards would be collated at the local government level before transmission to the party’s national secretariat.

According to him, similar exercises are taking place across the country, with reports indicating encouraging participation by APC members nationwide.

The Deputy Governor observed that the overwhelming support recorded in the ward reflects the confidence and trust party members place in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his vision for sustained national growth, stability, and development.

Dr. Hamzat concluded by reaffirming that the exercise in his ward met democratic standards of openness and credibility, noting that members expressed satisfaction with the conduct and outcome of the process.

“The election in our ward was peaceful and transparent. Members arrived early, accreditation was conducted successfully, votes were counted openly, and everyone expressed satisfaction with the process,” he said.
