Mikel Arteta is set to become one of the highest-paid managers in world football as Arsenal move closer to agreeing a lucrative new contract with the Spaniard.
The proposed deal comes after Arteta guided Arsenal to their first Premier League title in 22 years, with the club officially confirmed as champions following Manchester City’s draw against Bournemouth.
Arsenal ready to reward title success
Arteta’s current contract was due to expire next summer, but negotiations over an extension are now understood to be at an advanced stage.
The new agreement is expected to include a significant salary increase that would place the Arsenal manager among the top earners in global football management.

He currently earns around £10 million annually, alongside performance-related bonuses linked to Champions League qualification.
Arteta could approach Guardiola and Simeone levels
Diego Simeone is widely regarded as the highest-paid manager in football, earning around £26 million per year at Atletico Madrid.
Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola reportedly earns close to £20 million annually at Manchester City.
Arteta’s new contract is expected to move him closer to that elite salary bracket following Arsenal’s resurgence under his leadership.
New era emerging at Arsenal
Arteta’s rise has transformed Arsenal from top-four challengers into Premier League champions, with the club now positioning him as the central figure in their long-term project.
The Spaniard is also expected to become the Premier League’s longest-serving current manager once Guardiola leaves Manchester City this summer.
