The former Governor of Bauchi State, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar SAN, has formally purchased the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial nomination form, signaling a strong political comeback ahead of the 2027 elections.

The form was purchased and presented to him in Abuja by the MA Abubakar Strategic Committee at a ceremony attended by party loyalists, political leaders from across the country, supporters from Bauchi state, as well as friends and family—an event widely seen as evidence of his growing support base within the party.

Speaking at the ceremony, Abubakar did not hide his appreciation for the political climate that made his return possible.

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing a level playing field for all aspirants within our great party,” he said.

He further commended  Tinubu for strengthening the All Progressives Congress into “a viable, inclusive, and democratic platform.”

He also acknowledged the role of party leaders at both national and state levels, adding that their support and encouragement have been instrumental in shaping his decision to re-enter the race.

Formally declaring his ambition, Abubakar stated, “Today, I affirm my willingness and readiness to contest for the governorship of Bauchi State in the 2027 general elections.”

Reflecting on his time in office from 2015 to 2019, he noted, “Having served as governor, I gained an intimate understanding of our state’s unique challenges and immense opportunities. That experience has further prepared me to serve with greater focus, efficiency, and impact if given the mandate once again.”

He pointed to his administration’s record, saying, “These achievements, recorded under difficult economic conditions, demonstrate what focused, transparent, and people-oriented leadership can deliver.”

He described his ambition as one driven not by personal interest but by collective demand.

“This ambition is not personal — it is a collective aspiration, driven by the widespread calls and support I have received from across the state and beyond,” he said.

Reassuring the people of Bauchi, he added, “I assure the good people of Bauchi State that I will not disappoint you.”

With optimism about the future, Abubakar emphasized that “Bauchi State is blessed with abundant human and natural resources,” pledging to harness them to “create jobs, boost agriculture and economic activities, and position Bauchi as a model state for others in Nigeria.”
