AFC Bournemouth pulled off one of the shocks of the Premier League matchday 32 with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
The Cherries scored first in the 18th minute when Eli Junior Kroupi pounced to silence the home crowd and set the tone for a determined away display. Arsenal responded before the break as Viktor Gyökeres converted from the penalty spot in the 36th minute, restoring parity and sparking hopes of a comeback.
Despite dominating territory and piling up corners after the halftime break, the hosts struggled to find a decisive finish. The decisive moment arrived in the 74th minute when Alex Scott swept home the winner after being teed up by Evanilson, leaving the north London side chasing shadows in the closing stages.
Late substitutions from Mikel Arteta failed to shift the momentum, as Arsenal threw bodies forward in search of an equaliser. Bournemouth, guided from the touchline by Andoni Iraola, stood firm under heavy pressure to secure a memorable away win.
Tempers flared in the closing minutes, with bookings for Gyokeres, Kroupi, Adrien Truffert and James Hill as referee Michael Oliver kept a tight grip on the game.
The defeat marks Arsenal’s third consecutive loss across domestic competitions. On the other hand, the result has ended Bournemouth’s run of draws.
