During the interview, Briggs stated, “Wike wants to decide governors in some southwestern states where PDP is strong.” She made the remark while discussing the growing debate around political control and party dominance across different regions of Nigeria.
Briggs explained that such perceived influence raises questions about internal democracy within political parties and whether candidates are freely chosen by party members and the electorate.
She referenced the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, noting that his political role and influence continue to attract both support and criticism across the country.
According to her, the concern among citizens is not only about individual political ambitions but about the broader implications for fairness, party autonomy, and electoral integrity.
The activist maintained that Nigeria’s democracy must allow all regions and political parties to make independent decisions without undue external pressure or control.
