The Women Environmental Programme (WEP) has announced a call for participants for its upcoming Environmental Justice and Human Rights Bootcamp targeted at organisations operating within South-South Nigeria.
The 2-day bootcamp is aimed at equipping young people, especially young women, with the knowledge, advocacy skills, and practical tools needed to champion environmental justice and human rights issues within their communities.
WEP explained that the programme will focus on strengthening grassroots advocacy while helping participants understand the relationship between environmental challenges and human rights concerns. The training is also expected to expose participants to practical strategies for addressing both local and global environmental issues affecting vulnerable communities.
Organisations selected for the programme will benefit from comprehensive training sessions on environmental justice, human rights advocacy, and grassroots campaigning. Participants will also gain practical skills for analysing environmental challenges and developing community-based advocacy solutions.
In addition, the bootcamp will provide networking opportunities, allowing participants to connect with experts, advocates, and peers working in the environmental and human rights sector across the region.
To be eligible, applicants must be registered organisations based in South-South Nigeria. Interested organisations are also expected to demonstrate active involvement in environmental or human rights-related work, or show strong interest in those areas.
Organisations applying for the programme must be willing to nominate a committed participant who will actively engage throughout the training.
Special consideration will be given to the nomination of young women and persons with disabilities as part of its commitment to inclusivity, equitable representation, and leadership development within advocacy spaces.
Applications for the bootcamp will close on May 14, 2026, at exactly 11:59 pm. WEP added that only successful applicants will be contacted after the application process.
