Chidi Odinkalu Questions INEC Chairman Over His Reaction During A Salute By NYSC Members

Human rights lawyer and former Chairman of National Human Right Commission, Chidi Odinkalu, has stirred reactions online after questioning the reaction of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Joash Ojo Amupitan, during a salute by two female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members.…....

Odinkalu made the remark in a social media post after a video and images surfaced online showing the INEC chairman apparently looking in another direction while the female corps members saluted him during an official event.

Reacting to the development, Odinkalu humorously questioned why the electoral commission chairman appeared not to be looking directly at the corps members during the salute.

“Why is my brother, @inecnigeria Chairman, Prof Joash Ojo Amupitan, looking at someone different from the person saluting him? Or am I seeing anoda angu….?!” he wrote.

The post quickly generated reactions from social media users, with many offering humorous interpretations of the moment, while others suggested the chairman may simply have been distracted or responding to another activity at the event.

The incident has since become a talking point online, particularly among users discussing body language and reactions captured during public appearances by government officials.

Neither INEC nor the chairman had officially responded to the comments at the time of filing this report.
