Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights activist and former chairman of the national human rights commission has taken to his official X handle to react after Borno State governor Babagana Zulum was spotted consoling families of kidnap victims.
According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle on Wednesday May 20th, 2026 he pointed out that the governor took more than four days to look into the incident that had painted the state in bad light.
It can be recalled that few days ago, the country was thrown into agony after the reports that over forty eight school children were abducted by unidentified assailants in Borno State went viral across various social media platforms.
However, four days after the incident, governor Babagana Zulum acknowledged the attack by visiting families of the victims, an act which drew massive public backlash.
Chidi Odinkalu, widely known for his outspokenness, pointed out that while the families were grateful for the visit, the children still remained in captivity.
