The Government of the People’s Republic of China has donated 80 brand new vehicles to the Zambia Police Service, in a move aimed at strengthening the country’s internal security capacity and improving law enforcement operations nationwide.
The vehicles were officially handed over in Lusaka during a ceremony attended by senior government officials, including representatives from Zambia’s Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security, alongside Chinese diplomatic officials.
According to authorities, the donated vehicles will be deployed across various police units to enhance mobility, improve rapid response to emergencies, and strengthen patrol operations in both urban and rural areas.
Officials from the Zambia Police Service welcomed the support, stating that transportation challenges have long affected operational efficiency, especially in remote districts where access to vehicles is limited.
The new fleet is expected to significantly improve crime prevention efforts, response times, and overall policing visibility across the country.
The donation reflects ongoing bilateral relations between China and Zambia, which have continued to expand over the years in areas such as infrastructure development, trade, and security cooperation.
China’s support is largely coordinated through broader frameworks such as the Forum on China Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), which promotes development and security partnerships between China and African nations.
