The student, identified as Getrine Indeche, spends her free time during school breaks selling sim sim and groundnuts while still dressed in her school uniform.
Speaking to NGBREAKINGNEWS, Getrine said she started the snacks hustle to raise school fees and rent while at KMTC, saying her family has not been in a position to support her education.
“I lost my father, and my mother, who was supporting me, is now jobless, together with my brother. I still need to pay fees and rent, and so I started this hustle. However, it does not make me much money. At times, I only make KSh 50,” she said.
She said she sells the peanuts and sim sim over the weekend or after classes to remain afloat.

“I prepare the njugu at night, and by morning, I sell them. Sim sims need much more preparation so I do that over the weekend. I hope to find a kind well-wisher who can help me pay fees, since this hustle is not enough to raise the kind of money that I need,” she said.

Despite this, he admired her courage and determination to work hard instead of depending on handouts.
“She was not shy or scared of what she was doing,” he wrote, adding that he respected her effort because she was trying to earn an honest living.
