The Mobilisation Coordinating Unit (MCU) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe has warned governorship aspirants against actions capable of reversing the political gains recorded in the state.

Saidu Jakusko, Coordinator of the MCU, gave the warning in a statement issued in Damaturu on Friday.

Jakusko said politicians and political aspirants should accept the choice of Baba Malam Wali as the governorship candidate endorsed by APC leaders in the state.

He described Wali as a qualified and experienced politician with proven capacity in governance and political leadership.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the endorsement of Baba Malam Wali by some APC stakeholders had attracted opposition from certain governorship aspirants.

They argued that the move was premature ahead of the party’s primary election.

The MCU coordinator said the progress achieved in Yobe over the years was the result of collective sacrifices and commitment by stakeholders.

According to him, any attempt to create division or reverse such achievements will not be in the interest of the state and the ruling party.

Jakusko urged APC members and governorship aspirants to prioritise unity, peace and stability of the party ahead of future political activities.

He also prayed for Allah to grant victory to the APC and strengthen unity among party members in the state. (NAN)
