According to a report by Punch News on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, Tukur Ahmed, one of the residents of the Yashikira community in the Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State where gunmen attacked the emir’s palace, has revealed that the gunmen took three of the wives and four children of the emir alongside some other residents.
It was reported that the attack occurred at midnight, between 12am and 2am, when the gunmen, in their numbers, invaded the community heavily armed, then shooting sporadically before advancing to the palace and nearby police station.
Recounting the incident, the resident, Tukur Ahmed, said that the gunmen came to the community on motorcycles and shooting into the air sporadically. He said they went straight to the palace and broke into the inner quarters where the emir’s wives and children stayed.
