“I Am The Governor Of The Ancestral Birthplace Of Mr President–Adeleke

According to a report by Vanguard on Monday, May 25, 2026, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has stated that his administration, alongside his political family, has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office, describing the decision as one taken in what he considers the best interest of Osun State and the wider Yoruba nation.…....

The governor explained that the endorsement was guided by both political considerations and cultural ties, noting that the move reflects a shared identity between Osun State and the President.

A statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Monday indicated that Governor Adeleke made the remarks while inspecting the ongoing rehabilitation work on the Ilesa-Ife-Ibadan express road.

The project inspection formed part of the state government’s routine assessment of federal infrastructure projects within Osun State.

During the visit, the governor spoke on the relationship between the state government and the federal administration, highlighting areas where cooperation has been ongoing in support of development initiatives.

Governor Adeleke explained that his endorsement of President Tinubu is rooted in what he described as historical and ancestral connections.

He stated that Osun State holds a special place in the identity of the President, noting that the state is widely regarded as his ancestral homeland.

According to the governor, this connection carries moral and cultural significance, which, in his view, makes it appropriate for the state to support the President’s political ambitions.

He added that leadership decisions should also take into account shared heritage and collective interest among people of similar origin.

The governor further described President Tinubu as a son, father, and leader of the Yoruba people, emphasizing that such identity should inspire unity and political support beyond party differences.

He explained that his administration considers it important to prioritize development-oriented collaboration with the federal government.

According to him, maintaining a cooperative relationship with the presidency is essential for ensuring that Osun State benefits from national infrastructure projects, federal interventions, and policy decisions that affect the region.

Governor Adeleke also noted that the endorsement was made without hesitation, stating that his position on supporting the President has remained consistent.

He explained that his administration is focused on governance and development rather than political rivalry, and that aligning with the federal government on key issues can contribute positively to state progress.

He maintained that such alignment is intended to strengthen communication and cooperation between Osun State and federal authorities, especially in areas related to infrastructure and public services.
