According to a report by Daily Post on Monday, May 25, 2026, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has explained that his endorsement of President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition in 2027 is based on what he described as moral duty and the need to sustain ongoing development projects.…....
He stated that his position was not influenced only by political considerations, but also by the working relationship between Osun State and the federal government, especially regarding infrastructure projects currently being executed across the state and the South-West region.
The governor’s comments were contained in a statement released by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, following an inspection visit to the Ibadan–Ile Ife–Ilesa Expressway project on Sunday.
During the inspection, Adeleke commended President Tinubu for supporting major infrastructure projects in Osun State and other parts of the South-West, noting that such developments are important for economic growth and regional integration.
He explained that road infrastructure plays a key role in improving transportation, boosting trade activities, and strengthening connectivity between communities.
Adeleke also stressed that political support is important in ensuring the continuity of public projects, adding that recognition should be given to efforts aimed at improving citizens’ welfare through development initiatives.
He noted that the ongoing expressway project is particularly significant because it connects major cities and supports the movement of people and goods across the region.
The governor further expressed appreciation for federal involvement in Osun State’s development efforts, saying such collaboration contributes to broader progress in the South-West.
He linked his position to both developmental benefits and historical ties between Osun State and President Tinubu, saying these factors influenced his decision to publicly support the president’s re-election bid.
He was quoted as saying, “I am the governor of the ancestral birthplace of Mr President. How can I have my own in the saddle and think twice before embracing him?”
