In a post on X, PadDolat, the Iranian government’s official media information agency, shared details of an exhibition paying tribute to the “martyred” students of Minab at the 79th Cannes International Film Festival.

The exhibition focused on the attack on Shajareh Tayyebeh School, which Tehran says killed more than 175 children and teachers on the first day of the regional conflict.
The memorial was organised by the Farabi Cinematic Foundation. Its booth at the Cannes featured artwork and visual elements inspired by Minab School, hoping to attract the attention of international filmmakers and festival visitors.
According to organisers, discussions and negotiations for future joint film productions centered on the story of the Minab students remains a key focus of the Iranian delegation’s presence at Cannes.
“Negotiations for joint productions on the theme of the martyred students of Minab are the key focus of the Farabi Cinematic Foundation’s booth at this year’s Cannes Festival,” the foundation said. The 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival began on May 12 and will continue until May 23.
Reuters first reported on March 5 that the US military investigators believed that their forces were likely responsible for the bombing of a girls’ school in Minab, located in southern Iran. The investigation has not yet been completed.
However, Iran has been making repeated attempts to keep international attention focused on the strike, using diplomatic, media and cultural platforms.
A day ago, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in New Delhi for a three-day official visit aboard an aircraft named “Minab168”, referring to the children killed in the strike. The diplomatic message comes amid his visit to India for the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ meeting.
In a similar move, Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf had shared an image of an empty aircraft lined with photos of children killed in the strike when he arrived in Pakistan for talks with the US.

“My companions on this flight,” he wrote on X, while arriving in Pakistan in April to participate in talks in Islamabad, with the US delegation led by Vice President J.D. Vance. The discussions, however, failed to produce a breakthrough.
