Kwankwaso: He Said We Betrayed Him, We Are Betrayers Because We Defected From NNPP To APC-Bature

Sanusi Bature has defended recent defections from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), dismissing accusations of betrayal made by former Kano State governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.…....

Speaking during an interview on Trust TV, Bature reacted to comments reportedly made by Kwankwaso concerning politicians and supporters who recently dumped the NNPP for the APC. The governor’s spokesman argued that political defections are common in Nigeria’s democratic system and should not automatically be interpreted as acts of disloyalty.

According to him, those who left the NNPP exercised their constitutional right to freedom of association and political choice. He maintained that disagreements within political parties often lead to alignments and realignments across party lines.

“He said we betrayed him. We are betrayers because we only defected from NNPP to APC,” Bature said while responding to the criticism.

Bature insisted that joining another political platform does not amount to betraying any individual, stressing that politicians are free to pursue their ambitions and interests within any party they believe aligns with their goals. He added that democracy allows citizens and public office holders to make political decisions without intimidation or personal attacks.
