Tragedy has struck the education community in Lagos following the shocking death of Mrs. Ajayi Ikweoku, the principal of Salvation Army Memorial High School in Ojo, Lagos, and her husband during a trip to Badagry for Sallah celebrations.
According to reports, the couple checked into Prime Garden Hotel located along Census Extension in Badagry while attending festivities and meeting with business associates and family friends.
Sources said the couple spent time at the hotel lobby alongside friends and associates, where they reportedly ate a light meal and consumed non-alcoholic drinks before Mrs. Ajayi later excused herself and returned to their hotel room.
However, after nearly two hours passed without her returning or responding to calls, her husband reportedly left the gathering and went upstairs to check on her personally.
He, too, never came back.
Concern reportedly grew among friends and hotel staff after repeated attempts to contact the couple failed. According to reports, the hotel room was locked from the inside, raising fears that something had gone terribly wrong.
After approximately six hours of silence and no response from either occupant, hotel management allegedly accessed the room’s emergency CCTV feed and reportedly saw the couple lying motionless inside the bathroom area.
Staff members later used a spare key to enter the room, where the husband and wife were tragically discovered lifeless in a bathtub surrounded by vomit.
Reports claim the couple may have been dead for several hours before they were found.
The shocking incident has left family members, colleagues, students, and residents devastated, with many demanding a full investigation into the mysterious circumstances surrounding their deaths.
