The mother of musician Oghenemine Ogidi who was shot dead in broad daylight in Effurun, Delta State by a police officer, has demanded that all four officers present at the scene be put to death the same way.

Ogidi, known by his stage names Mene and OG Millan, was 28 years old when Assistant Superintendent of Police Nuhu Usman shot him on April 26, 2026.

He had been arrested on suspicion of attempting to waybill a parcel containing a Beretta pistol and four rounds of ammunition.

A video of the killing, which showed him bound and pleading for his life before being shot twice, went viral and triggered widespread public outrage.

His mother spoke in an interview with News Central on Friday, saying she was not under any illusion that justice would restore her son’s life.

“Not that it will bring my child back but I will know that Nigeria tried for me,” she said.

She demanded that those who transported the suspect to the park also be held accountable.

“The driver that carried that package all the way from Sapele to that park, I want them to bring the driver. And even the chairman of that park, I want him to be brought to book,” she said.

She further demanded the prosecution of all four officers present at the scene.

“And the four policemen, including the one that cocked the gun and the one that shot him, I want all of them to be brought to book,” she said.

She then called for the officers to face the same fate as her son.

“And the way my son died, I want them to die like that,” she said.

The Delta State Police Command had arrested Usman and transferred him to the Force Headquarters, Abuja, for disciplinary action following public outrage.
