The “Maradona” hitmaker announced the death of her husband, Michael Ndika, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NaijaReview.
Niniola shared the heartbreaking news through a series of emotional posts on her Instagram Story on Tuesday, May 20, 2026.

The Grammy-nominated artiste first wrote, “God took him.”
In a second post, she added, “My husband died.”
In a third post, she wrote, “God took him. 13 years.”

The revelation has left fans and entertainment industry stakeholders in shock, as she also disclosed that they had been together for 13 years.
The circumstances surrounding Ndika’s death remain unknown. Niniola had largely kept her private life away from the public eye and social media.
Niniola, 39, had kept her marriage entirely private and had maintained publicly that she was single and unmarried.
In October 2025, the singer categorically denied reports that she was married during an interview on Yanga FM Lagos.
“I don’t care what anyone says about my personal life. I’m not a 12-year-old. I’m not married,” she had said.
The late Ndika was a Computer Science graduate of Lagos State University and Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH). He maintained a low profile throughout his career.
Meanwhile, Niniola, the elder sister of musician Teni, rose to prominence after emerging as one of the top contestants on “Project Fame West Africa” in 2013.
She later established herself as a major brand in the Nigerian music industry with her 2017 hit single, “Maradona” .
