The Defence Headquarters has clarified that no foreign soldiers were involved in the operation that led to the killing of terrorist commander Abu Bilal al-Minuki. Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Michael Onoja stated that while the United States supported the mission with intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and other technical assistance, no foreign troops were deployed on the ground. The strike was a carefully planned operation carried out solely by Nigerian forces, and no soldier was killed during the mission.
Key Points:
The US role was limited to technical support; Nigerian troops executed the ground operation.
Al-Minuki had been on international watchlists, including the UN, US, EU, and Nigeria.
Previous reports of his death were mistaken; this operation confirmed his elimination.
Other criminal figures like bandit leader Bello Turji remain under surveillance.
The military warned against paying ransom, which fuels criminal activity.
