Nollywood actress Shine Rosman has spoken openly about the financial reality behind Nigeria’s film industry, revealing that many actors are not as wealthy as the public often assumes.
The actress made the revelation during a podcast interview with fellow actor Baaj Adebule, where she addressed common misconceptions about life in Nollywood.
According to her, many people believe that actors in the Nigerian movie industry are automatically rich because of their fame, television presence, and social media popularity.
However, she explained that the reality is quite different, as a large number of actors still struggle financially despite being well known on screen.
Rosman noted that only a small fraction of entertainers in Nollywood enjoy real financial stability, and even among them, many earn their income from side businesses rather than acting alone.
She stressed that acting, by itself, does not guarantee a steady or sufficient income for most practitioners in the industry.
The actress further added that while some colleagues appear financially successful, their wealth often comes from other ventures outside filmmaking.
In her words, she said the biggest misconception about Nollywood stars is the belief that they are all wealthy, when in reality many are still trying to meet basic financial needs.
Her comments have sparked conversations online about the true economic condition of actors in the Nigerian entertainment industry, with many agreeing that fame does not always equal financial comfort.
