The Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has recalled all suspended government officials in the state, except those from the Ministry of Lands whose cases are still under investigation.

NOP NIGERIA reports that the governor announced the decision on Sunday during a church service held to mark the 2026 Father’s Day celebration at the Government House Chapel in Abakaliki.

This was contained in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor.

Nwifuru said the decision to recall the suspended officials was taken in appreciation of the support his administration had received from workers in the state.

He said, “I want to use this opportunity to also thank our workers for their unflinching support to our government, and to reciprocate this gesture I have decided to honour the workers by recalling all government officials who were suspended for one reason or the other except those from the Ministry of Lands whose cases are still under investigation.”

The governor said the gesture was part of his administration’s effort to strengthen government operations and promote unity within the workforce.

Nwifuru also expressed concern over the conduct of some political appointees who, according to him, publicly declared interest in elective positions without first seeking his consent.

The governor described the action as disrespectful, warning that political ambition should be pursued with proper consultation and respect for established leadership structures.

He said appointees in his government must understand the importance of discipline, loyalty and order in public service.

The governor also congratulated men on the occasion of Father’s Day, describing them as the “pillar and backbone of the family and the society.”

He said the celebration offered an opportunity to reflect on the noble responsibilities placed on men as family leaders, defenders of faith and contributors to social progress.

Nwifuru said fathers and men in leadership positions must continue to show good examples in their homes, churches and communities.

The governor praised the commitment of men to family values, faith and community development.

He said, “The steadfast commitment of men to the teachings of Christ, their devotion to their families, and support to the Church and community continue to inspire hope and strengthen the moral fabric of our society.

“In a time when our nation yearns for principled leadership, discipline, and unity, Catholic men have remained shining examples of integrity, sacrifice, and service.

“Your roles as fathers, mentors, and community leaders are indispensable in shaping a future anchored on righteousness, peace, and justice.”

Nwifuru said his administration remained committed to creating an environment where families could thrive under its People’s Charter of

He also urged women to treat their husbands with dignity and pride, while calling on men to continue to uphold values that promote peace and unity.

He said, “As a government, we deeply appreciate your contributions to nation-building and community development.

“Through our People’s Charter of Needs Agenda, we remain resolute in creating an enabling environment where families can thrive, while I admonish our women to treat their husbands with dignity and pride.

“I urge you all to continue to uphold the virtues of love, humility, courage, and faith, even in the face of challenges.”

The governor said his administration would continue to work with all segments of society to promote development, discipline and moral values in the state.
