The leadership of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, on Sunday lauded the peaceful House of Representatives primary of the party held across the state and congratulated the candidates, other aspirants and the members on the successful exercises.
In a statement signed by the Osun APC spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, the party appealed for calm and urged both the candidates and the aspirants to rein in their supporters and desist from publishing offensive statements or passing comments capable of causing crisis in the party.
The APC subsequently urged aggrieved aspirants to leverage constitutional mechanism to address their grievances.
It commended the displayed spirit of sportsmanship of the aspirants, saying the contests have produced candidates who must be supported in the overall interest of the party.
“With the successful completion of the primary elections into the Houses of Representatives and Assembly of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State yesterday, the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC has congratulated the candidates, other aspirants, the members of the party and their numerous supporters.
“It is expedient to inform us all that there’s no winner and no vanquished in this sportsmanlike NASS primary elections as our party and the entire people of the state were the overall winners of the elections.
“It is apposite to remind the emerged candidates of the need to use their victory as a potent political tool to consolidate the oneness and consolidation of the party in preparation for the major elections ahead where the efforts of all and sundry shall be needed for the success of all our candidates during the general election,” the statement further read partly.
Meanwhile, the results of the primary elections held to select the APC House of Representatives candidates in the 2027 general elections were still being expected as of Sunday evening.
Supporters of the aspirants that contested the primary had taken to different social media platforms to demand the release of the results.
Many of them had also shared different versions of unauthorised results awarding victory to their preferred aspirants.
But during a chat with journalists in Osogbo, the state capital, the Chairman, Osun APC primary election committee, Bayo Ayo, said results from local government areas and federal constituencies were still being collated.
Ayo said, “We are still collating the results of the exercise and as soon as we are done with it, the outcome will be announced for the populace.
“Be rest assured that we are doing a credible job here, there is nothing to hide from our side. We will make the names of the winners available to journalists.”
While the official results are still being awaited, Mr Sanya Omirin, the current member representing Atakunmosa East-West/Ilesha East-West constituency in the National Assembly, has emerged the APC consensus candidate for the Federal Constituency.
Omirin emerged the candidate at the affirmation held at the Ilesa East APC local government office, which had in attendance, Babatunde Ayeni and Oluwole Komolafe, who both contested for the party’s ticket.
In his acceptance speech, Omirin, who commended other aspirants for accepting to drop their ambition, declared readiness to work for the party’s victory in the 2026 governorship and 2027 general elections.
Speaking in similar vein, the Chairman APC Media Committee for the governorship election, Oluremi Omowaiye, said unity that the party exhibited during the primary, has sent a signal of its resolve to reclaim power.
“Against what opposition has said, we have had a largely peaceful primary. In Ijesa South, we adopted consensus arrangement and it worked out.
“We commend other aspirants for accepting party supremacy. APC will continue to work towards a common goal of winning the next governorship and the 2027 general elections in the state,” Omowaiye said.
In Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency, the chairman of House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Mr. Oluwole Oke, won the ticket of the party.
