The Special Adviser to the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, Bolaji Akinola, has sparked fresh controversy after issuing a strongly worded response to remarks made by singer Davido and Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
In a statement on Tuesday, Akinola criticised Davido over his recent social media comments, describing them as disrespectful and politically charged.
He further accused the singer of undermining Yoruba cultural values, insisting that respect for elders should not be abandoned in political discussions.
“In Yoruba culture, respect for elders is not optional; it is a fundamental value,” he added.
Akinola also used the statement to defend Oyetola’s record, contrasting his tenure with what he described as the failures of the opposition in the state.
“Unlike those addicted to social media drama and attention-seeking outbursts, Oyetola’s record of service speaks loudly for him,” he said.
Looking ahead to the 2026 Osun governorship election, he predicted defeat for the incumbent governor.
“The people of Osun State are tired of emotional outbursts and celebrity side-shows. No amount of propaganda or online hostility can distract the public from the realities of poor governance,” he said.
The comments have further intensified political tension in Osun State, where exchanges between supporters of both camps have increasingly spilled onto social media platforms in recent weeks.
NGBREAKINGNEWS Online earlier reported that political tensions in Osun intensified following comments made by Nigerian singer Davido, who publicly criticised Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.
