Rano Air, has announced the temporary suspension of some of its flight routes following what it described as the sharp rise in the cost of Jet A1 aviation fuel.
The airline disclosed this in a public announcement shared on its official X handle, blaming the development on the “unprecedented escalation” in aviation fuel prices.
According to the airline, the cost of Jet A1 has increased by more than 300 per cent, making operations on some routes commercially unsustainable.
The carrier, however, did not immediately specify the routes affected by the suspension.
Rano Air said the development has placed severe pressure on airline operations across the aviation sector, forcing it to take what it described as a “difficult but necessary decision.”
“Due to the unprecedented escalation in the cost of Jet A1 aviation fuel by over 300%, the operational cost of sustaining some of our routes has become extremely challenging and commercially unsustainable,” the statement read.
“This significant increase in fuel prices has greatly impacted the aviation industry and placed enormous pressure on our flight operations.”
The airline apologised to passengers and business partners over the inconvenience the suspension may cause, stressing that the decision was reached after careful consideration.
It also assured affected passengers that arrangements had been made for refunds, rescheduling and rerouting options.
“Passengers who have already booked flights on the affected routes are advised that Rano Air will assist with all concerns regarding refunds, rescheduling, or rerouting options,” the company stated.
The airline further noted that operations on the affected routes would resume once the situation improves and becomes viable for business operations.
Rano Air added that it remains committed to delivering quality services despite the challenges facing the aviation industry.
