According to reports, 31-year-old Sinenhlanhla Khoza from Mtubatuba in KwaZulu-Natal says her life changed dramatically after she began experiencing rapid physical ageing while still in her late twenties.

Photos and videos shared online show her looking decades older than her actual age, leaving many netizens shocked and emotional.

Khoza appealed to the public for help, saying the condition has affected not only her appearance but also her confidence and quality of life. Her story quickly spread across social media platforms, where thousands of users shared messages of support and concern.

According to the family, Khoza’s health problems reportedly started with a strange mark that appeared on her face before her condition rapidly worsened.

They claimed she later began experiencing persistent vomiting and severe body aches, raising alarm among relatives. As months passed, her physical appearance changed significantly, with signs of rapid ageing becoming more noticeable.

The family also revealed that she has since lost the ability to walk independently.

They revealed they had exhausted several avenues in search of help, including consultations with hospitals and traditional healers, but no treatment had improved her condition.

Details of Werner syndrome

Medical discussions surrounding her condition have pointed to Werner syndrome, also known as adult progeria, a rare genetic disorder associated with accelerated ageing. The syndrome typically appears in a person’s late teens or twenties and can cause premature greying, wrinkled skin, hair loss, cataracts, diabetes, and other age-related complications.

Health experts quoted in local discussions explained that Werner syndrome is extremely uncommon and is caused by genetic mutations that affect the body’s ability to repair DNA properly. While there is currently no cure, treatment usually focuses on managing symptoms and improving a patient’s quality of life.

As her story continues gaining attention, many social media users have called for medical assistance and financial support for Khoza. Others praised her courage for speaking publicly about the condition despite the emotional challenges she faces daily.
