Nollywood actress and entrepreneur Tayo Sobola, popularly known as Sotayo Gaga, has expressed distress after reportedly falling victim to a scam involving an undisclosed sum of money.
In a video shared online, the mother of one emotionally recounted how the incident occurred, explaining that she was approached by individuals who posed as industry colleagues seeking assistance.
According to her, one of the callers claimed to be struggling with school fees for a child, while another reportedly used the identity of a colleague to appeal for financial help. She added that a different person reached out to her via WhatsApp, alleging marital crisis due to financial hardship.
Sotayo disclosed that she went as far as selling some of her belongings to assist the supposed victims, only to later realise that she had been deceived by scammers.
Visibly upset, the actress rained curses on the alleged fraudsters, alternating between English and Yoruba as she expressed her frustration.
Following her revelation, fans took to social media to sympathise with her, describing her as a kind-hearted and peace-loving person. Many suggested that the perpetrators may have targeted her because of her generosity, noting that her willingness to help those in need could have been exploited.
