Elder statesman and former Ogun State Governor, Olusegun Osoba, has alleged that there are plans by some politicians from Southern Nigeria to work against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.…....
According to a report by Daily Trust on Monday, May 25, 2027, Osoba made the claim during the announcement of the APC presidential primary results in Abeokuta, Ogun State. He warned party members not to believe claims that Tinubu has no strong opponents, saying the ruling party must prepare seriously for the next election.
According to him, some politicians from the South may contest the presidency to divide votes that would normally go to Tinubu. He mentioned former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, and former President Goodluck Jonathan as names being linked to the alleged political moves.
Osoba urged APC supporters to remain united and mobilise voters ahead of the 2027 election. He also praised Tinubu for what he described as developmental projects carried out in Ogun State under the current administration.
At the Ogun APC presidential primary, Tinubu polled 322,485 votes across the 20 local government areas of the state, while his opponent, Stanley Osifo, scored zero votes.
In his words, “There is a strong gang-up against us. They are plotting to field several candidates from our region in the South. Obi has emerged, Jonathan is quietly waiting in the background, and Makinde.”
