Rubio landed in Kolkata early in the day before heading to New Delhi later tonight. During his stay in Kolkata, he is expected to visit sites linked to Mother Teresa.

The trip will also take him to Agra and Jaipur, while Delhi will host key diplomatic meetings including the Quad foreign ministers’ gathering on Tuesday.
The visit comes as India and the United States prepare to discuss a range of issues, including the fallout of the US-Iran conflict on global energy markets and the recent friction over US tariff measures on Indian goods.
Speaking before departing for India, Rubio called India a key US partner and said the relationship remained important for Washington. “There’s a lot to work on with India; they’re a great ally and partner. We do a lot of good work with them, so this is an important trip,” he said.
Rubio’s India visit also follows President Donald Trump’s recent trip to China, with Washington continuing diplomatic outreach in Asia at a time of rising geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty.
