The widow of late Nigerian film legend Jimoh Aliu has publicly expressed heartfelt gratitude to Nollywood actor Saheed Balogun for his unwavering support and recent gesture of honour toward her.
In an emotional statement, she recounted how Balogun recently invited her to a special event, an invitation she initially doubted due to fears of scams. According to her, she insisted on a video call to confirm his identity before accepting.
The veteran actor’s wife revealed that in over 52 years of her involvement in the Nigerian movie industry alongside her late husband, she had never experienced such recognition.
She went further to recall a painful period when the industry allegedly distanced itself from their family. During preparations for Jimoh Aliu’s 80th birthday celebration, she claimed that actors were instructed to stay away, leaving the family isolated.
However, she noted that Saheed Balogun stood out as the only colleague who defied the directive and showed up in support.
“He has always been there for us,” she said, adding that the actor recently went as far as covering her accommodation expenses at a hotel—an experience she described as rare and deeply touching.
She offered prayers for Balogun, asking for long life, continued favour, and blessings upon his family.
The tribute has since drawn attention to Balogun’s longstanding relationship with the late Jimoh Aliu’s family, highlighting his loyalty and compassion within the Nigerian film industry.
