As part of activities marking Nigeria’s 2026 Democracy Day, Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has donated 31 brand new Toyota Hilux vans to security agencies in the state to strengthen operational capacity.
The presentation was held on Friday at the Governor’s Office premises after a brief ceremony and guard of honour parade mounted by the Police.
The vehicles were shared among the Army, Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Customs, Immigration, Federal Road Safety Corps, Correctional Service, and Department of State Services. Each agency received allocation based on operational needs.
Commissioning the vans, Governor Nwifuru praised security commanders and personnel posted to Ebonyi since the state’s creation, saying their gallantry and dedication have sustained peace and security of lives and property.
He also commended community leaders, elders and youths for cooperating with government and security agencies through intelligence sharing, which he said has helped maintain stability. With preparations for the 2027 general elections underway, the Governor charged officers to remain vigilant, combat-ready and professional.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to security and expressed gratitude to the Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff, Inspector-General of Police and other national security chiefs for their support.
Earlier, Commissioner for Internal Security, Chief Etta Ude, described Ebonyi as “the safest and most peaceful state in Nigeria” and said the donation would boost morale and motivate personnel to do more.
