Nigeria League for Good Governance (NLG) and Forum of Abia Democrats (FABD) has urged the leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress(NDC) to avoid any negative tendencies that is capable of truncating the progress and unity in Abia state chapter of the party.
The groups called on the party leadership to uphold the people’s mandate and zoning principle in selection of its house of representatives flag-bearer for Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo federal constituency for the coming general election in 2027.
The call on the party leadership by the Nigeria League for Good Governance(NLG) and Forum of Abia Democrats (FABD) was contained in a statement jointly signed by the NLG President, and FABD Converner, Surveyor Samuel Aguiyi.
The statement was issued to newsmen at the end of the joint meeting which took place on Sunday in Abuja.
The meeting by the pro-democracy and advocacy groups comes against the backdrops of the challenges and concerns arising from the last Friday’s primary elections conducted by the NDC in Abia state, and many other states of Nigeria federation.
While emphasizing that NDC is widely known as a party that upholds fairness and promotes inclusive governance in the society, Nigeria League for Good Governance(NLG) and Forum of Abia Democrats (FABD) urged the leadership of the party to affirm and declare Hon Hafuruchi Ogadinma as House of Representatives standard-bearer of the NDC for Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo federal constituency for the next year’s main elections across states in the country.
The groups attributed their positions for formal affirmation and declaration of Hon Ogadinma, to the overwhelming support and widespread acceptance among majority of party members and people Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo federal constituency in Abia state.
The socio-political groups told the leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) it needs Hon. Hafuruchi Ogadinma’s political acceptance among the electorates in the federal constituency to be able to secure victory in the federal constituency
“There’s no gainsaying that Hon. Hafuruchi Ogadinma has the ability and the needed capacity to win the forthcoming main elections for NDC in Obingwa /Osisioma/Ugwunagbo federal constituency, having possessed the competence and sound educational background, as well as, demonstrated sterling leadership qualities in the past. We believe Hon Hafuruchi Ogadinma posssed the wherewithal to drive development in the federal constituency and Abia state through sponsoring people’s- oriented bills and make development-oriented laws. And also make and pursue good laws that will strengthen all relevant institutions of democratic governance in Nigeria,”The group stated.
Aside from his outstanding leadership qualities, Nigeria League for Good Governance (NLG) and FABD) believed Hon. Hafuruchi Ogadinma is the best man to represent Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo federal constituency at the green chamber of the national assembly, positing that zoning principle favours Hon Hafuruchi Ogadinma to present himself for election into the house of representatives to represent Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo federal constituency come 2027.
“This zoning formula and principle has been one of the determinant factor in selection and election of federal lawmaker/member for Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo federal constituency. And it favours Agalaba Obingwa in Abia south senatorial district. It’s an undisputable fact that zoning formular has engendered and promoted fairness, justice, and unity in their political decisions and affairs. And it is on this zoning context and the clarion calls by majority of the people of Obingwa, Osisioma Ngwa and Ugwunagbo local government areas that Hon. Hapuruchi
Noting that Hon Hapuruchi Ogadinma ‘s unwavering commitment to the development of Nigeria cannot be overemphasized, Nigeria League for Good Governance (NLG) and Forum of Abia Democrats (FABD) described Hon Hafuruchi Ogadinma as a beginning of a new chapter of progress and purposeful leadership in Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo federal constituency and indeed, Abia state as a whole.
Ahead of the main elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in 2027 in many states of Nigeria federation, Nigeria League for Good Governance(NLG) and Forum of Abia Democrats (FABD), therefore, asked the leadership of Nigeria Democratic Congress to thoroughly and fairly to hand over the NDC flag to Hon. Hapuruchi Ogadinma and affirm him as consensus and rightful house of representatives candidate of the party for Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo federal constituency for the coming national assembly polls in Abia and across other states in the country.
