… Dismisses Oladele’s Remarks As Propaganda

The camp of the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Ogun State, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, has dismissed claims by an All Progressives Congress chieftain, Kayode Oladele, that the PDP has lost its political relevance in the state.
In a statement issued on Friday by Afolabi Orekoya, the Adebutu camp described Oladele’s remarks as “misleading” and “a reflection of the APC’s desperation” ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The statement maintained that Oladele lacked the authority to determine the political preference of Ogun residents, insisting that the PDP remained united and well-positioned to reclaim power in the state.
According to Orekoya, while the APC was battling internal divisions and allegations of candidate imposition, the PDP had consolidated its structures across the state.
He argued that recent developments within the ruling party, including the resignation of Princess Iyabo Obasanjo from the APC, exposed what he described as the party’s internal crisis and absence of democratic practices.
The Adebutu camp also accused Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, of embarking on what it called media-driven projects that allegedly failed to reflect the realities on the ground.
It alleged that some projects executed under Adeola’s supervision were substandard and accused the senator of using public resources to advance his political ambition.
The statement further questioned the whereabouts of buses and tricycles allegedly distributed by the senator to residents, claiming the vehicles were no longer visible after their public presentation.
Highlighting Adebutu’s credentials, Orekoya described the PDP stalwart as a long-time resident and investor in Ogun State with a record of philanthropy and community development.
He claimed that Adebutu had donated more than 700 electricity transformers to communities across the state’s 20 local government areas and provided food support to residents during the COVID-19 lockdown through weekly distribution of livestock.
The statement also said Adebutu’s agricultural businesses employ over 2,000 workers in Ogun State and have contributed significantly to the state’s economy.
Orekoya further argued that Ogun State possessed enough qualified indigenes to govern the state, maintaining that residents would not support what he described as “political outsiders.”
He expressed confidence that the support enjoyed by Adebutu during the 2023 governorship election would be replicated in 2027.
The statement urged Oladele to stop what it described as propaganda against the PDP and instead focus on addressing the internal challenges confronting the APC in Ogun State.
The APC and Senator Adeola had yet to respond to the allegations contained in the statement as of the time of filing this report.
