The Bauchi State Police Command has recovered a stolen motor vehicle and arrested three suspects allegedly linked to its theft and subsequent sale.
Command spokesperson Nafi’u Habib, in a statement made available on Tuesday, said the complainant a 53-year-old resident of Danjuma Goje Street, Bauchi reported the theft of his black Honda vehicle, a 2000 model with chassis number JHGC9564614804512, to the police on June 8, 2026. The vehicle had been stolen in March 2026.
Following the report, operatives attached to the ‘A’ Division Township launched an intelligence-led investigation that led to the recovery of the vehicle along Gombe Road in Bauchi on the same day it was reported.
The operation also resulted in the arrest of three suspects. They were identified as Sani Saidu, 58, of Madaki Street, Bauchi, allegedly the first buyer of the vehicle; Shuaibu Fagarau, 54, of Kofar Idi area, said to be the second buyer; and Samaila Abdullahi, 46, also of Kofar Idi area.
All three are currently in custody and cooperating with investigators, while the vehicle has been kept as an exhibit pending the conclusion of investigations.
Habib noted that the recovery was the third stolen vehicle retrieved by operatives of the division within the past month.
Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu commended the operatives for their swift response and professionalism, and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling criminal activities across the state.
The suspects are to be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
The command also urged vehicle owners to adopt additional security measures, including the installation of tracking devices and proper documentation, to aid in the recovery of stolen vehicles.
