Port Harcourt, Rivers State — Panic erupted on Wednesday after a building under construction collapsed along Dr. Peter Odili Road, near Eterna Filling Station in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
According to eyewitnesses, the structure suddenly gave way while construction work was ongoing, trapping an unspecified number of workers beneath the debris. Residents and road users in the area immediately raised the alarm and called for urgent intervention from emergency response agencies.
Videos and photographs circulating online showed the collapsed structure reduced to rubble, with concerned residents gathering around the site as efforts began to locate and rescue those believed to be trapped.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities had yet to release an official statement regarding the cause of the collapse, the number of victims involved, or whether any casualties had been recorded.
