According to reports, the elderly woman’s remains were deposited in a mortuary in the Afikpo area of the state following her death. However, family members were left in shock when they arrived at the facility to retrieve the body for burial preparations and were allegedly informed that the corpse could no longer be found.
Sources familiar with the incident claimed that the mortuary attendant responsible for handling the body reportedly fled shortly after the disappearance was discovered, raising suspicion and confusion among the grieving family members and residents of the community.
The situation reportedly became more dramatic after another corpse was allegedly presented to the family as a substitute. However, relatives strongly rejected the body, insisting it did not belong to their late grandmother.
