Femi Fani-Kayode Drags Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and Kwankwaso

According to a statement on X on Monday, June 1, 2026, former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure victory in the 2027 presidential election, describing the opposition as fragmented and incapable of mounting a serious challenge to the ruling administration.

In the post titled “A JOKE OF AN OPPOSITION,” the former minister argued that the opposition lacked the cohesion, credibility and political strength required to unseat the incumbent president.

“Now that we know who all the presidential candidates are permit me to say the following. President Tinubu will not only win the 2027 presidential election fair and square but he will win it hands down,” he wrote.

Fani-Kayode went on to deliver a scathing assessment of opposition figures and political groups seeking to challenge the President, describing them as “weak, divided, insipid, deluded, vain, mendacious, intellectually bankrupt, morally challenged, manifestly dishonest and lacking in gravitas and integrity.”

According to him, the opposition poses no significant electoral threat to the ruling party and has failed to present a compelling alternative to voters. “They present NO credible threat & offer NO serious challenge,” he stated.

Drawing comparisons with the Biblical Tower of Babel, the former minister said opposition politicians appeared divided by conflicting interests and objectives.

“They are like the Biblical tower of Babel: a vexatious and cantankerous brood of venomous vipers, strange bedfellows, inexplicable paradoxies, irreconcilable contradictions, ill-bred and unlettered fools, specious liars, misguided souls, power-lusting degenerates, accursed malefactors and a loud and unbearable cacaphony of delusion and confusion all rolled into one and all speaking in different languages and moving in different directions,” he wrote.

Fani-Kayode further argued that opposition activities amounted more to political theatre than a coordinated campaign. “Theirs is the noise of the market place: loud, empty, vacuous, insignificant, irrelevant and more often than not crude and obscene. They are more of a comedy show than an opposition,” he added.

The former minister also commented on the prospects of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, suggesting that while Obi may enjoy support in the South-East, he would struggle to replicate that performance across other regions of the country.

“Peter Obi, the IPOB candidate, may do well in the South East but he will not fare well elsewhere and therefore there is little point in wasting more than a couple of sentences on him in this contribution,” he wrote.

Turning to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Fani-Kayode rejected suggestions that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart would dominate northern votes in a future presidential contest. “Many have said that Atiku Abubakar will sweep the North. I have lived in the North for the last 23 years and I assure you that they are wrong,” he stated.

The former minister argued that Atiku’s influence in the region had declined over time, citing what he described as repeated presidential ambitions and political disagreements with past allies. “There is no doubt that the Wazirin Adamawa once had a hold in certain parts of the region but things have changed over the last few years,” he said.

Fani-Kayode also praised several northern political figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senator Abdulazeez Yari, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni.

According to him, the emergence of a new generation of northern leaders would further weaken Atiku’s chances in the region. “These leaders will clip Atiku’s wings and prove to the world that Arewa has a plethora of seasoned and disciplined leaders who, unlike Waziri, are ready to put the interest of the nation before self,” he wrote…See More
