EXCLUSIVE: Nigerian-US Airstrikes Kill Abbor Mainok, Three Top ISWAP Commanders

Fresh intelligence obtained from highly placed security sources has confirmed that the devastating joint Nigerian-United States air operation that eliminated notorious ISWAP commander Abubakar Mainok, also known as Abu Bilal Al-Mainuki (Abbor Mainok), also wiped out three of his most trusted and influential lieutenants, Taken together their deaths amount not merely to the loss of individuals but the dismantling of the current command ecosystem.

Sources disclosed that comprehensive battle damage assessments and multiple intelligence confirmations established that Abbor Mainok was killed alongside three of his most critical operational aides during the precision strike on his concealed hideout in the Lake Chad Islands west of Dogon Chukun.

Security sources said his most trusted and influential aides, including Abu Huraira, Ba Yuram and Mallam Haruna, who collectively represented the operational, logistical and security backbone of one of Africa’s biggest terror organization, met their waterloo.

Before his death Abu Huraira, was the Fiya of Tumbun Mota and son-in-law to Abbor Mainok, who played a key role in coordinating field operations and maintaining influence over fighters operating within the Tumbun Mota axis.

While Ba Yuram, was another powerful Amir responsible for logistics, procurement, weapons acquisition, supplies and transportation networks across ISWAP enclaves throughout the Lake Chad Basin. Intelligence sources described him as one of the most important figures sustaining the group’s war machine.

Another notable figure was Mallam Haruna, Abbor Mainok’s personal bodyguard and Chief Security Officer (CSO), who managed the security architecture around the slain commander and coordinated his movements between various insurgent enclaves while evading security forces.

Security sources said the elimination of the four men in a single strike has created an unprecedented leadership vacuum within ISWAP’s command hierarchy in the Lake Chad Basin.

The sources said the operation effectively dismantled a strategic command cell responsible for leadership coordination, logistics management, operational planning and security protection.

Abu Bilal Al-Mainuki (Abbor Mainok) overall ISWAP leader and Wali overseeing operations across Nigeria, Niger Republic, Chad and Cameroon.

According to the sources, the significance of this strike goes far beyond the death of Abbor Mainok alone. The entire command nucleus around him was eliminated.

The latest confirmations add to an expanding list of senior commanders and influential figures neutralised during the sustained Nigeria-US offensive campaign across the Lake Chad Region Basin Area.

Among other notable terrorist commanders confirmed killed during the operations are: Abubakar Buduma, the Qa’id of Kirta Wulgo, who sustained severe injuries during an earlier strike near Kirta Wulgo and later succumbed to his wounds.

Several foreign ISIS-linked fighters described as Arab nationals in charge of the ISIS drone Command who operated alongside Mainok were also reportedly eliminated.

Zagazola assessment further indicate that a number of prominent operatives linked to ISWAP’s media and propaganda networks were killed when airstrikes struck facilities associated with the group’s media infrastructure in the Lake Chad axis.

The death of Ba Yuram may prove particularly damaging to the insurgency because of his central role in coordinating procurement routes, movement of supplies, weapons acquisition and distribution of resources among various ISWAP factions operating across the Lake Chad Basin.

His elimination, combined with the destruction of logistics warehouses, vehicles and supply depots, is expected to significantly disrupt the group’s ability to sustain operations. No wonder they could no longer carry out large attacks.
