Kemi Filani reported on Saturday that the veteran has passed away at 80. His junior colleague, Kunle Afod, announced his death, noting how Nollywood has lost a true legend. He said that Oyewo’s remarkable talent, timeless performances, and immense contributions to the Nigerian theatre and film industry will never be forgotten, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.

Mourning him, actress Toyin Adegbola, better known as Toyin Tomato, noted how he came, saw and conquered. She described the deceased as a great dancer, lecturer, uncle, father, and grandfather. Toyin expressed how blessed she was to have been present at his 80th birthday. Bidding him farewell, she said he would be greatly missed.

A month ago, Afod had received praises from his colleagues over his show of love to veterans, Chief Kola Oyewo and Peter Fatomilola. The Yoruba actor visited the veterans’ house, where he paid his respects.

While speaking with Kunle Afod, Oyewo revealed that he couldn’t play sole roles again because of his illness, which had caused a major setback for him in the industry. Chief Oyewo revealed that the illness started with frequent urination, which led to lack of sleep, and after several tests, it was discovered that he had an enlarged prostate.

In other news, Chukwurah spoke about the detriment of social media, saying she never ceases to wonder how it became so bad in Nigeria that online media has become an acceptable platform for misinforming, witch-hunting, blackmailing, broadcasting lies, and wishing evil on others. Sending a message to those peddling falsehoods about her, she noted how she hasn’t come this far not by her own power but by the word of God.
