The estranged wife of Nollywood actor Akin Olaiya, Nafisat Feenah Hammed, has finally broken her silence on their crashed marriage.
In a video making rounds online, she shared her side of the story, saying she faced difficulties and emotional turmoil, which led to their separation.
She said she left her marriage last year because she was in pain, frustrated and didn’t matter in her marriage. She claimed that her marriage to Olaiya was filled with violence, and no one expected her to be in such a marriage.
The former Mrs Olaiya said she wouldn’t say much because she isn’t the one to badmouth her ex or spill details about her marriage to the internet.
“Last few months, I left my marriage because I was in pain and frustrated, and I felt I didn’t matter. Nobody expects me to stay in a marital home that is filled with violence. My husband and I have not been together since last year.
Those saying, “How can I leave my marriage when I am not mad?” If I were enjoying it, I wouldn’t leave. There was violence, and he wasn’t living up to my expectations.
Allah is in control, and I can never come to say what happened in my own marital life”.
Kemi Filani reported a day ago that the actor had reportedly ended his marriage to his wife, just one year after their wedding. An alleged dissolution letter detailing the end of the marriage surfaced online, outlining what led to the breakdown of the relationship.
According to the post, the actor and his wife were scheduled to attend an event together in Lagos. However, she allegedly informed him at the last minute that she was no longer interested in attending. The post further claimed that after the actor left for the event, his wife packed her belongings and moved out of their home.
The alleged letter stated that Akin made efforts to reconcile with his wife after she left and to resolve their differences, but they were unsuccessful. It also claimed that the actor sought the intervention of Nafisat’s family members in a bid to settle the dispute. Despite these attempts, she reportedly maintained that she was no longer interested in continuing the relationship.
Recall that in July, 2025, Olaiya had gotten married for the second time. The Yoruba actor tied the knot for a second time in a private ceremony. Clips from the low-key ceremony made rounds online. One of which was a video of the famous actor dancing on stage with his wife, who wore an unhappy look.
Following the wedding, Olaiya penned a heartfelt note, expressing gratitude to Allah for the wedding’s success. Akin also thanked his friends, family and well-wishers for their unlimited support.
