India: Influencer Mansi's family demands justice after she's found dead at in-laws’ home

The death of social media influencer Mansi has sent shockwaves across the globe.

The 23-year-old influencer from Babupurwa died under suspicious circumstances in Lucknow, where she was living with her in-laws.

Mansi got married to Sagar Rajput on December 9, 2024, in a colourful traditional Indian wedding.

What happened to influencer Mansi?

According to The Times of India, Mansi paid dowry as per the Indian customs, and her family gave cash worth KSh 945,367, with other items. However, her in-laws were not satisfied. The website reported that Mansi’s husband, her father-in-law, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law and aunt allegedly harassed her, demanding more dowry and a car.

The family alleged that the influencer had been subjected to insults for bringing insufficient dowry. She informed her family about the alleged mistreatment she was going through at the hands of her in-laws. According to the family, they tried several times to mediate between them, but things didn’t materialise.

Mansi’s family were informed that she had unalived herself, though they suspect suspicion in her death.

A dowry death case has been filed against Sagar and other members of his family, and authorities are doing investigations into the cause of her death.

Mansi’s family staged a protest in Kanpur, and placed her body on the road, demanding justice.

Musician Master Parrot passes away

Elsewhere, legendary Ugandan musician Master Parrot died after he was hit by a car along the Northern Bypass in Madanafu, Kampala.

The death of the musician sent shockwaves across the East African region, with colleagues and fans penning touching tributes.

Speaking to Daily Monitor, Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy, revealed that the police rushed the musician to Mulago National Referral Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The police boss said the driver fled to an unknown destination after the accident, and investigations were ongoing.

Master Parrot was one of the founders of the original Firebase Crew alongside musician-turned-politician Bobi Wine, Jaja Nana, Bucherman, Toolman Kibalama and Sizzaman. The singer was buried on June 3.
