Insecurity: Abdulaziz Yari Urges National Unity, Shared Responsibility and Renewed Hope

Senator representing Zamfara West Senatorial District, Abdulaziz Yari, has called for national unity, collective responsibility, and renewed hope in the face of rising insecurity across Nigeria.

In a statement addressing recent incidents of violence, the former Zamfara State governor expressed deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives and the widespread fear affecting communities nationwide.

“I am deeply saddened by the recent incidents of violence and insecurity that have claimed innocent lives and brought pain, grief, and uncertainty to many families and communities across our nation,” Yari said.

He extended heartfelt condolences to affected families and communities, emphasizing that the suffering of any Nigerian should be seen as a shared national burden.

“The pain of one Nigerian is the pain of all Nigerians. At moments such as this, we must remember that beyond our differences of ethnicity, religion, language, or region, we remain one people bound together by a common destiny,” he added.

Yari strongly condemned the acts of violence, describing them as deliberate attempts by criminal elements to instill fear, create division, and weaken national unity.

“Their objective is to make us distrust one another and lose faith in our nation. We must never allow them to succeed,” he stated.

The senator stressed that security should not be seen solely as the responsibility of government and security agencies, but as a collective duty of all citizens. He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, cooperate with law enforcement, share credible intelligence, and promote peace within their communities.

He also warned against resorting to ethnic, religious, or regional blame, noting that criminals do not discriminate among their victims.

“Their victims are Nigerians. Therefore, our response must also be Nigerian—united, collective, and unwavering,” he said.

Yari called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, women leaders, and civil society organisations to strengthen efforts in fostering peace, unity, and mutual understanding.

He further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the nation’s security agencies for their ongoing efforts, acknowledging the enormity of the task before them while urging continued public support.

“This is not the time for despair. It is not the time for division. It is the time for unity, courage, and collective resolve,” he said, expressing confidence in Nigeria’s resilience.

Reaffirming hope in the nation’s future, Yari concluded that with unity, faith, and collective commitment, Nigeria would overcome its security challenges.

“Let us stand shoulder to shoulder as brothers and sisters… Nigeria will prevail. Peace will prevail. The spirit of our people will prevail.”

He ended with prayers for peace, protection, and divine guidance for the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
