A video of Governor James Orengo dramatically being whisked away by a boda boda rider, while others acted as chaser riders on the sides, has set tongues wagging on the internet.

The June 2026, peaceful protests were planned to commemorate the lives of the 68 people who were sadly killed during the Finance Bill 2024 that had been rejected by a section of Kenyans and more so the Gen Zs.

The youngsters had been complaining about the bill and going to the streets to show their displeasure, but June 25, marked the day when they stormed Parliament and made the Members of Parliament (MPs) who were in session scamper for safety and took any available means to leave the house.

By the time the dust had settled, over 60 young people had perished, and the country observed their first anniversary in 2025and their second one in 2026.

How was the June 2026 commemoration?

This year, many people stayed away from work and their businesses, fearing that the demonstrations would cost lives, but some brave souls who ventured into the city were stopped as the police had blocked all roads leading to the city centre.

Givernor Orengo was among other leaders, and they marched in solidarity to the city centre and presented some flowers in parliament. After they left the vicinity, the police scattered them, and people could be seen running in differnet directions.
