He reportedly sent her a message inviting her to join him for drinks at a rooftop restaurant in Nairobi’s Sarit Centre.
After reviewing his profile and seeing what appeared to be a genuine account filled with personal photos and interactions with friends, Juliette agreed to the invitation.
When she arrived later that evening, she found the man already seated alone and enjoying a drink. The meeting appeared to get off to a promising start.
Juliette said her host ordered a cocktail and cheese fries for her before pulling his chair closer as they chatted and got to know each other.
She described him as charming, noting that he frequently complimented her during the conversation. However, the pleasant evening soon took an unexpected turn.
At some point, the man received a phone call and stepped away from the table, citing the loud jazz music playing in the background.
He returned shortly afterwards, only to excuse himself again moments later for another call, claiming he was sorting something over the phone.

Unaware that anything was wrong, she continued enjoying her drink and the music. But as time passed, she began to notice that her companion was taking unusually long to return.
Concerned, she eventually contacted a waitress and asked whether the man had already settled the bill. The answer left her stunned.
According to Juliette, not only had he failed to pay for her order, but he had also left without settling his own tab.
“I ended up paying a KSh 10,000 bill while I had only eaten KSh 1,550 worth of food,” she lamented.
To make matters worse, she claimed restaurant staff temporarily held her as they attempted to establish the whereabouts of the man who had made the reservation and accumulated the charges.
The ordeal left her feeling embarrassed and frustrated. After attempting to contact him without success, Juliette warned the man that she would go public if he failed to reimburse her.
She further claimed that shortly afterwards, he deleted his social media account. Now, she hopes that someone who knows him will encourage him to take responsibility for the bill.
