Ndidi, Onuachu lead early arrivals as Super Eagles camp opens ahead of friendlies

Nigeria’s preparations for this week’s international friendly against Poland gathered momentum on Monday with 18 players reporting to the Super Eagles‘ training camp in Warsaw.

Head coach Eric Chelle welcomed a sizeable group of players as the team began training ahead of Wednesday’s encounter, with experienced stars Wilfred Ndidi, Paul Onuachu and Frank Onyeka among those already in camp.

The first training session took place on Monday evening, with 16 players participating under Chelle’s supervision as preparations intensified for the clash with Poland.

Also present in camp were goalkeepers Maduka Okoye, Francis Uzoho and Arthur Okonkwo, alongside defenders Semi Ajayi, Zaidu Sanusi, Bruno Onyemaechi, Igoh Ogbu and Emmanuel Fernandez.

Midfielders Raphael Onyedika and Tochukwu Nnadi also joined the camp, while attackers Moses Simon, Terem Moffi, Akor Adams and Rafiu Durosinmi were part of the early arrivals.

Chelle deals with notable absences

Nigeria will head into the friendly without some of their biggest names. Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman are unavailable, while several other players withdrew from the squad before the start of camp.

Despite the absences, the Super Eagles arrive in Poland in high spirits following a successful Unity Cup campaign in London.

Nigeria defeated Zimbabwe 2-0 in the semi-finals before retaining the trophy with a commanding 3-0 victory over Jamaica in the final.

The Super Eagles will face Poland on Wednesday before taking on Portugal in another friendly next week.
