“No amount of money should make you sign your masters to a label” – Cynthia Morgan tells artists

Nigerian singer Cynthia Morgan, otherwise known as Madrina, has issued a PSA to artists.

On her Instagram page, she said no amount of money, ignorance, or desperation should make them sign their masters to a label in perpetuity.

She stressed that if they must make art, continuous knowledge and an entertainment lawyer should be their best friend.

“Dear artiste, no amount of money, ignorance or desperation should make you sign your masters to a label in perpetuity.

If you must make art, continuous knowledge and an entertainment lawyer should be your best friend”.

During Seun Kuti and Wizkid’s drama, Jaywon had addressed young artists, noting how many think music is only about numbers. He noted that most of them think having better streams, a strong PR machine, and money to throw around makes them the best artists.

Burna Boy had sent a message to upcoming artists, telling them not to let Twitter polls and social media fans deceive them, as they won’t fill any stadium for them in any part of the world. He stated that one’s song being number one on any streaming platform in Nigeria isn’t something to celebrate. Burna admonished them to aim higher or do business on the other side.

Spyro had sent a message to upcoming artists. He educated them that signing with the biggest label or artiste in the world doesn’t guarantee their success. He made it known that one’s talent without diligence and hard work will fail one, as he admonished them to stop building castles in the air.

MAVINS founder and music executive Don Jazzy had sent an important message to upcoming artists, as he shared how he got to sign Ayra Starr, Boyspyce and Bayanni. He revealed that he was the one who reached out to the fast-rising singers, as he advised artists to show themselves on social media.

Singer Buju revealed some facts about some singers who wait until they get signed to a record label before they start to make money. With examples, he revealed that getting signed to a record label is not the only way that people can make money.
