Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has commended the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Olatunji Disu, for initiating the joint Ogun–Lagos security operation, Operation Kosaye, describing it as a bold, proactive and intelligence-driven intervention that has significantly strengthened security across the two neighbouring states.
Governor Abiodun said the operation has recorded measurable successes through coordinated raids and surveillance activities that saw operatives comb forests and criminal hideouts along the Ogun–Lagos corridor, neutralise armed bandits, arrest multiple suspects, and successfully rescue kidnapped victims.
According to the Governor, the achievements recorded under Operation Kosaye have helped restore public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force while reinforcing the resolve of security agencies to safeguard lives and property.
He noted that the sustained offensive against criminal networks has increasingly made Ogun and Lagos States hostile environments for kidnappers, bandits and other violent offenders who previously exploited the porous border communities as safe havens.
Prince Abiodun reiterated that his administration remains committed to providing logistics, operational support, and modern technology to enhance policing outcomes and sustain the momentum of security operations across the state.
He added that continued investment in surveillance systems, mobility assets, and security infrastructure has complemented the efforts of the police and other agencies in maintaining law and order.
The Governor also commended the Commissioners of Police in Ogun and Lagos States, Bode Ojajuni and Tijani Fatai, alongside officers and personnel involved in Operation Kosaye, for their professionalism, bravery, and dedication, noting that their efforts have been central to the operation’s early successes.
He emphasized that Operation Kosaye highlights the critical importance of inter-state collaboration, intelligence sharing, and coordinated responses in tackling evolving security threats, stressing that criminals can only be effectively dismantled when law enforcement agencies work seamlessly across jurisdictions.
Governor Abiodun further urged other states across the federation to adopt similar collaborative security frameworks capable of closing operational gaps often exploited by criminal elements.
Reaffirming his administration’s position, the Governor stressed that the protection of lives and property remains a core priority, pledging sustained support for security agencies through strategic investments in logistics, intelligence, and operational capacity.
