A young girl was reportedly killed in a tragic road accident at Rivers State University (RSU) in Port Harcourt on Tuesday night after she was allegedly struck by a speeding vehicle.
According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred within the university environment when some young men were allegedly engaging in reckless driving and suspected car racing activities. Witnesses said one of the vehicles lost control and hit the victim as she was walking along the road.
The impact reportedly left the young girl critically injured, and she was later confirmed dead.
Eyewitnesses further alleged that the occupants of the vehicles fled the scene immediately after the accident. However, one of the suspects was reportedly apprehended by residents and bystanders who gathered at the scene shortly after the incident.
Report circulating on social media have alleged that the individuals involved may be internet fraud suspects, popularly known as Yahoo boys.
