A wave of anger trailed the continued captivity of abducted pupils and teachers from three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State as a female protester, on Monday, openly condemned President Bola Tinubu, his wife, Senator Remi Tinubu, and their son, Seyi Tinubu, over what she described as government insensitivity to the plight of victims.
The protester, who joined the #BringBackOurPupilsAndTeachers demonstration in Ogun State, accused the Federal Government of failing to secure the release of over 40 abducted schoolchildren and seven teachers, saying the authorities had continued to issue assurances without concrete results.
In a viral video from the protest, she expressed frustration over the prolonged captivity of the victims while, according to her, public officials continued to engage in social and political events.
“You are wicked people. We will talk and you will not take action. We are tired. We are not afraid of you. Bandits are attacking us. There are underage children in the bush,” she said in an emotional outburst.
She also criticised Seyi Tinubu’s presence at the 2026 Ojude Oba Festival in Ijebu, Ogun State, describing it as insensitive given the security situation in parts of the country.
The protester further lamented worsening economic hardship, poor infrastructure, and rising insecurity, alleging that basic amenities had collapsed under the current administration.
“There is no electricity, no water, no road, no food and fuel is also expensive. The affected teachers are in the bush. Children of ordinary people are in the bush,” she said.
Her remarks come amid mounting public outrage over the abduction incident, which occurred last month when armed men invaded the schools in Oriire LGA, killing at least three persons, including a mathematics teacher, identified as Michael Oyedokun.
The victims have remained in captivity despite ongoing security operations, prompting protests from civil society organisations and education stakeholders across several states, who have demanded urgent government intervention and improved security measures.
Authorities are yet to issue a fresh update on efforts to secure the release of the abducted pupils and teachers.
