The Peace Initiative Committee (PIC), Ogun Central, has called on residents across the senatorial district to remain highly vigilant and prioritise personal safety amid growing security concerns in parts of the state.
The committee, in a public safety advisory issued on Thursday, urged citizens to avoid unnecessary movements at night and to reconsider non-essential night journeys, warning that such actions expose individuals to avoidable risks.
It further advised residents to patronise only accredited motor parks for interstate and intra-city travel, stressing the importance of security-conscious commuting habits. According to the committee, passengers should also ensure they carry valid means of identification at all times, especially when travelling.
The PIC cautioned against the display of expensive or flashy items in public spaces, noting that such behaviour could attract criminal elements operating within communities and along transport routes.
Residents were also urged to maintain communication with trusted family members or friends by informing them of their travel plans, destinations, and expected time of arrival as part of precautionary safety measures.
Raising further concern over emerging social risks, the committee warned against meeting unknown or unverified online acquaintances, advising residents to verify identities properly before engaging in physical meetings.
It also encouraged citizens to avoid isolated areas, remain alert in public spaces, and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to relevant security agencies for swift action.
The PIC emphasised that security remains a collective responsibility, calling for stronger collaboration between residents and law enforcement authorities in order to sustain peace, stability, and safety across Ogun Central and its environs.
